DRS is looking, on behalf of our client, an INGO, for a dynamic Migration Project Manager to lead a campaign aimed at raising awareness of migration-related risks and alternatives. This initiative will engage stakeholders such as local civil society organizations, educators, parents, students, and social media influencers across countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Uganda, and The Gambia. The Project Manager will oversee the successful delivery of this EU-funded project, ensuring effective coordination, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management and Mission Implementation:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive project plan with clear timelines, budgets, and donor engagement strategies.
- Lead and coordinate a consortium of project partners, ensuring alignment with objectives and compliance with donor requirements.
- Motivate and manage the project team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Implement robust project monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track progress against targets and deliverables.
- Prepare and deliver regular progress reports to both internal and external stakeholders, highlighting successes, challenges, and necessary adjustments.
- Recruit, train, and mentor project teams located in various project areas.
- Ensure adequate resourcing of the project to meet all objectives and outputs.
- Ensure full legal and donor compliance across all project activities.
- Foster relationships with local stakeholders, partners, and officials.
2. Strategic Objectives:
- Provide thematic input on migration, social inclusion, and livelihoods, contributing to fundraising and business development initiatives.
- Participate in meetings with donors, assisting in the design of new interventions and projects for funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to adapt the project model for future implementation in new countries.
- Contribute to the Programmes Team’s efforts to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives.
3. Developing Capabilities and Programme Portfolio:
- Mentor and develop project teams, leading recruitment and professional development efforts.
- Strengthen the reputation and profile of the organization in the migration sector.
- Engage in personal and professional growth to stay at the forefront of migration-related programming.
4. Global Management:
- Represent and promote the organization’s values in all interactions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective internal reporting and alignment with the overall corporate management strategy.
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing education outreach programs or migration-related programming, with a focus on prevention of irregular migration. Experience in conflict-affected or developing countries is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in delivering programming in Africa.
- Proven experience in managing relationships with stakeholders in at least one of the programme countries.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing consortiums, including compliance and grant management aspects.
- Strong program management skills, with a track record of leading and delivering projects successfully.
- Ability to travel several times a year as required.
- Proficiency in navigating G-suite (Google Sheets and Docs).
- Fluent in written and spoken English and French, with excellent writing skills for donor and stakeholder communications.
