Here’s where you come in:

As Integrated Technical Services Director, you will provide strategic leadership and vision for WAR’s integrated technical sectors, ensuring best-in-class programming design and implementation. You will lead the technical team with a focus on integration across private and public funding streams, aligning WAR’s work with new partnership initiatives and maintaining strong collaboration with the Global Center Technical Resources team. You will champion agility and cross-functional collaboration, support strategic investment decisions, and contribute to organizational capacity building and thought leadership.

You will ensure technical quality and support by empowering sector teams to collaborate effectively across field offices and funding streams. You will guide the implementation of sector roadmaps, support humanitarian contexts with multi-sector resources, and represent WAR in external forums to strengthen visibility and impact through technical briefs and capacity statements.

You will drive resource development by collaborating with the regional Resources Development team to grow an innovative portfolio of grants and partnerships. You will support grant acquisition, donor engagement, and prepositioning efforts, while building strategic alliances with external partners and maintaining strong donor relationships.

You will strengthen staff capacity by supporting technical teams in developing robust capacity-building plans, coaching field office staff, and promoting action learning. You will also help build proposal development skills and foster a culture of high performance across the region.

You will ensure effective coordination by leading multi-sector meetings, forums, and engagement activities across field offices and global entities. You will mobilize technical expertise, support emergency preparedness and response, and collaborate with disaster management teams and other regional entities on joint projects.

Finally, you will contribute to activities that promote holistic growth and integrated witness in WAR’s mission, and perform other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements include:

  • Advanced University degree (PhD or MA/MSc) Water or Civil Engineering, Environmental Management, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Resource economics or other related disciplines with at least 10 years of relevant experience in a developing country environment.
  • Preferred technical qualification in one of the West Africa region’s core technical sectors; WASH, ESCA, Health & Nutrition, Food Security & Resilience, Faith and Development.
  • Hostile Environment & Awareness Training (HEAT) or Security Training
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience developing, leading, and managing complex, large-scale WASH and Environment and Climate Change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading senior multi-sector teams in WASH & ESCA, Food Security & Livelihoods, Health & Nutrition etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to mobilize stakeholders into partnerships and alliances, lead and facilitate collaborative processes.
  • Knowledge on international technical standards across WAR’s core technical sectors.
  • Experience in working with faith organizations, faith actors and faith-related issues in development
  • Experience of HEA and fragile contexts.
  • Recent and extensive experience living and working in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Effective in written and verbal communication in French and English. Additional languages representative of the countries WV serves in an advantage.
  • The position requires the ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
