Job Overview/Summary:

The Employee Engagement Advisor will own the implementation of strategies to leverage staff voices and perspectives to enhance employee experience, and promoting a culture of equity, belonging and inclusion in alignment with IRC’s Core Values. Reporting to the Senior Director of Employee Experience the ideal candidate will be passionate about employee advocacy, possess a strong understanding of workplace dynamics, and excel at driving engagement strategies that boost staff satisfaction, belonging and inclusion, as well as productivity. They should be detail-oriented, with proven expertise in managing projects from inception to completion, while effectively communicating and collaborating with diverse stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Senior Director of Employee Experience and the GEDI Director, People and Operations to implement strategies which enhance employee engagement and belonging across different employee populations in alignment with IRCs Values – Accountability, Equality, Integrity and Service.

• Manage and enhance communication channels for staff feedback, including regular updates, surveys, and focus groups to ensure employees voice in all their diversity feeds into organizational decisions.

• Work with the Sr Director of Employee Experience, the GEDI Director, People and Operations and other People & Culture (P&C) Leaders to develop and implement action plans based on employee feedback, monitoring progress, and adjusting as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

• Support cultural moments and internal campaigns to promote community and belonging, leveraging insights to enhance our Employee Value Proposition in partnership with the Talent Acquisition team.

• Collaborate with Internal Communications to showcase employee stories celebrating diverse backgrounds and experiences.

• Regularly monitor, analyze, and report on employee engagement metrics providing actionable insights to the Sr. Director of Employee Experience and P&C LT to inform strategic decisions.

• Actively support Gender Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives, supporting the GEDI Council engagement with its membership, to strengthen staff voice from this forum.

• Serve as a key liaison, advocate and thought partner for Employee Resource Groups (ERG) and GEDI council ensuring their recommendations are communicated effectively to key stakeholders: this includes promoting dialogue and surfacing emerging issues and opportunities and co-creating solutions to enhance our GEDI workplace Strategy.

• Ensure excellence in data protection and privacy when collecting, storing and working with protected employee data

Job Requirements:

• Graduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field.

• 6+ years of related experience that includes employee engagement, HR, internal communications, or related fields, with demonstrated project management experience.

• At least 2 years in the humanitarian and/or international development sector.

• At least 3 years of experience in one or more countries of IRC humanitarian delivery operating context.

• Lived experience in one or more of the IRC Global south locations, intercultural personal or professional experience strongly preferred

Demonstrated Skills And Competencies:

• Demonstrated understanding of power dynamics in organizations and the ability to elevate voices from underrepresented groups.

• Experience working on organization wide employee surveys, incorporating DEI lens, analyzing data and providing actionable insights.

• Experience establishing and managing two ways employee engagement dialogue or feedback channels.

• Outstanding interpersonal, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

• Strong visual and graphic expertise in creating content and presentations

• Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.

• “Client-first” mentality: ability to listen and understand the needs of office, units and country teams and incorporate them into the processes, tools, approached that are developed

• Empathy and a genuine passion for employee wellbeing.

• Integrity and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

• Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

• Hands-on, doer mentality with a strong focus on execution.

Language Skills:

• Excellent spoken and written English.

• Proficiency in at least one other language (French, Arabic or Spanish).

Working Environment:

• Combination of standard office working environment and working remotely (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively
