Summary
SAFE-MIT is seeking four Educational Outreach Experts (EOEs) to support the implementation of a school-based awareness campaign on irregular migration and human trafficking. One EOE will be recruited in each of the following countries: Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, and Senegal.
The campaign will engage students aged 13–18 and their teachers, equipping them with critical knowledge about the risks and realities of irregular migration and trafficking.
Each EOE will work in close collaboration with a local partner organization, which will be responsible for recruiting and managing a team of three Educational Outreach Officers (EOOs) in their respective country. The EOOs will lead fieldwork including school outreach, teacher training, and student engagement. The EOE will provide technical oversight, mentoring, and quality assurance to ensure activities are delivered effectively, ethically, and in line with project objectives.
Location: Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, and Senegal (one position per country)
Languages required: Fluency in English or French, plus relevant local language(s)
Start date: Estimated 8 September 2025
Contract type: Full-time (approx. 40 hours/week)
Duration: 10 months
An Excellent Candidate
To thrive in this role, you will need the following experience and capacities:
- Be based in the regions of:
- Kenya: Be based in Nairobi, with the ability to travel to Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakos counties.
- Morocco: Be based in Rabat, with the ability to travel to Sale and Kinatra.
- Nigeria: Be based in the North Central Region, preferably Abuja, with the ability to travel to Benue, Nasarawa, and Enugu States.
- Senegal: Be based in Dakar, with the ability to travel to Saint Louis, Thies and Ziguinchor.
- Have the ability to travel regularly within and around the country.
- Have an undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. education, social sciences, international development).
- Have at least 5 years of experience working with youth and teachers in community-based or educational programs.
- Have demonstrated skills and experience in monitoring and evaluation,including proficiency with data collection tools and hands‑on support to colleagues and partners in accurate data entry.
- Have proven experience supervising and mentoring a team in field-based roles.
- Have excellent computer literacy and reliable access to the internet.
- Be proficient in using productivity tools; experience with Google Suite is an advantage.
- Have complete fluency in English or French, plus relevant local language(s) both written and spoken.
You should be highly organised, proactive, responsive, and comfortable working independently.
Responsibilities
The following are the primary responsibilities of the role:
1. Team mentorship and field support
- Mentor a team of 3 Educational Outreach Officers remotely and in person.
- Provide hands-on support to EOOs during school mapping, outreach, training, and in-school sessions.
- Guide EOOs in organizing and facilitating teacher training sessions.
- Oversee and support implementation of in-school sessions in selected schools.
- Conduct regular check-ins with EOOs to track progress, address challenges, and strengthen field strategies.
- Assist EOOs in managing their workplans and daily schedules efficiently.
- Support EOOs in verifying school and teacher eligibility through correct administration of surveys.
- Ensure safeguarding protocols are well understood and upheld by EOOs and partner schools.
2. Monitoring, evaluation, and data quality
- Provide hands-on guidance to ensure EOOs use the M&E tools correctly.
- Monitor how EOOs collect, handle, and submit data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Ensure EOOs collect and submit baseline and endline surveys from teachers and students as required.
- Conduct spot‑checks of submitted data, deliver feedback on data entry, and share tips to prevent recurring mistakes.
- Troubleshoot fieldwork and data challenges, escalating issues where needed.
3. Stakeholder engagement
- Maintain close coordination and transparent communication with the local partner throughout implementation.
- Attend relevant meetings, field visits, and local engagements on behalf of Seefar.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the EOOs, school staff, the local partner, and stakeholders when requested.
- Liaise with Seefar’s country-based Social Media Officer to ensure visibility of field activities, support content gathering (e.g. photos, quotes, stories), and coordinate local media coverage where appropriate.
- Act as Seefar’s in-country representative when required.
4. Local context and operational support
- Flag risks, challenges, or contextual shifts in a timely manner.
- Provide field-level insights to strengthen project delivery, local relevance, and stakeholder trust.
- Support translation and adaptation of tools and other short documents into local languages where needed.
