Organizational Context and Scope

The IOM Regional Office for West and Central Africa, covering 23 countries, has defined three regional strategic objectives for the 2020–2024 period based on the three pillars of the IOM Strategic Vision (2019–2023).

These objectives are mutually reinforcing and indicative of the Organization’s ambition to be the driving force in the global conversation on migration. They respond to current and emerging challenges, positioning the Organization to better serve Member States and migrant populations throughout all stages of their journey across the West and Central Africa region and beyond.

Core Functions / Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of SRRMO and the direct supervision of RMO, the Finance clerk will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus not all inclusive nor are all duties carried out by all Finance Assistants)

  • Assist the SRRMO with preparation of narrative reports
  • Assist in the coordination of BR fleet
  • Assist in preparing annual budget submission and revisions including estimating staff cost as well as rental and utilities, office equipment and supplies, printing, and other contracts, services or running expenses, to include in the budget;
  • Extract and input data from various sources in financial or accounting systems;
  • Review all types of payments starting from purchases to payment requests verifying that they are duly authorized, and all the supporting documents are attached therewith;
  • Create new Vendor Accounts in PRISM;
  • Perform claim verifications against documentation to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized and that the goods have been received or services rendered;
  • Provide assistance to all staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc.;
  • Ensure proper and systematic completion of all posted payments and other accounting documents according to the established standards;
  • Assist in the monthly accounts closure;
  • Assist in monitor vendor accounts, follow up and monthly housekeeping;
  • Assist in responding to central reviews (such as MER, PCR, PBR, Budget and Revenue reviews, etc.)
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • High school degree/certificate in finance, accounting, administration, management with minimum two years of relevant work experience

Languages

  • Fluency in both French and English is required.
