Global Aid Transparency Specialist CDI

Country: Senegal
Organization: Danish Refugee Council
Closing date: 23 Dec 2022

Do you agree that we should be more open about how aid money is spent? Do you feel that a lot more is needed for organisations to be truly transparent? Joining us in this role gives you an opportunity to shape and strengthen our global commitment to this important responsibility.

Who are we?

You will be joining the global Monitoring, Accountability, Evaluation and Learning Team in DRC. We have a diverse portfolio that we feel is overall about our accountability to people – the people we serve, the people we work with, and the people who support our work. Good evidence and transparent sharing of this evidence is part of what we do.

About the job

You will be part of implementing DRC’s Aid transparency and Value for Money ambition at the operational level, with data sharing through the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) at the centre of your work. You will provide coordination and expertise to the portfolio, and support DRC’s global commitment to demonstrating accountability and transparency. Specifically, we would expect you to:

  • Support in the development of policies, strategy, resources, tools, and guidance to support Aid Transparency across DRC
  • Provide technical support to country operations, regional and HQ offices in the implementation of this knowledge area. As needed, the specialist may also substitute country and regional office capacity for a limited period with a perspective of building requisite capacity
  • Be the focal point for the Aid Transparency and value for money portfolio at regional level.
  • As requested, undertake analysis on data supporting Aid Transparency and value for money
  • Work in close collaboration with MEAL colleagues, IT colleagues and Grant colleagues to optimize data use
  • As needed, represent DRC in IATI and value for money related external engagement opportunities

We would expect you to have a sound understanding of value for money concepts. We don’t expect you to have experience in reporting through IATI, but it is of course even better if you do.

  • Understanding of economic evaluation methods (Value for Money framework)
  • Social science master’s degree in a relevant field or a first level university degree with additional two (2) years of experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • English and French, fluently spoken and written.

  • Experience in reporting to IATI in accordance with donor requirements
  • Demonstrated abilities in problem solving as well as taking a flexible and innovative approach to working.
