This is a pivotal leadership role within our senior country management team, with overall responsibility for ensuring strong and professional financial management of Blue Ventures’ operations in West Africa, reporting to the Regional Director. You will work with close collaboration, technical support and oversight from the global finance team.

Blue Ventures’ work in West Africa is new and expanding rapidly, with ambitious plans for the next few years. We are seeking a Finance and Operations Lead who can help build best practice local processes in collaboration with the global finance and people teams, using common systems to support sustainable growth and minimise risks.

Summary Job Description

The Finance and Operations Lead (FOL) will oversee and ensure a robust set up and seamless subsequent operations of the Finance function, processes, and systems within the regional office, whilst supporting regional leadership through strategic leadership in Finance and promoting high standards of integrity and accountability in the utilisation of organisational resources.

The role will be responsible for implementing strong processes and controls across all elements of financial operations, including treasury management, financial reporting, taxation, and human resources, whilst also contributing to strategic and operational decision-making in the region.

The FOL will work collaboratively with colleagues in West Africa on financial approaches and best practices to ensure long-term financial sustainability. You will advise and recommend on the key operational actions and outcomes for our operations in West Africa office while receiving technical support from the global team, in particular, the finance business partner for West Africa and other key personnel in the headquarters team as needed, including the Global Director of Finance and the Global Head of People Services

The FOL will initially be the lone finance and operations staff for the region and will therefore be responsible for administering payments, processing transactions and executing key financial controls such as bank recs. The role will therefore need to be comfortable operating in the detail of day to day finance activities whilst also able to engage on strategic financial matters such as grant management, budget setting and financial performance and monitoring.
