In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That’s for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We’re solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don’t always work, you can still send money with Wave. In November 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. In 2019, we expanded to Cote d’Ivoire. Now, we have millions of users and are growing fast. Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent. And that’s where you come in….
How you’ll help us achieve it
We are looking for a Merchant Distribution Administrative Assistant who is enthusiastic about a challenge and passionate about Wave’s mission and Payments product growth. You will be responsible for specific administrative processing tasks on behalf of the Wave Merchant Distribution team as we rapidly expand our business in Senegal.
In this role, you’ll
- Provide general administrative support to the merchant distribution team
- Assist in the follow-up of files and team dashboards
- Work closely with the Merchant distribution lead on admin tasks management (planning, distributors administration management, days off, recruitment plan, termination plan, etc.)
- Be the focal point of interim firms, prepare and submit distributors monthly salaries – bonuses, etc.
- Work with distribution leads to ensure a smooth on/off-boarding of distributors.
- Benchmark relevant training topics and organize regular training sessions for distributors.
- Follow up closely on distribution supplies in-out stock.
- Respond to all internal and external requests and inquiries related to merchant Distribution
- Prepare activity tracking documents.
- Make outbound calls to conduct surveys on various topics.
Key details
- Location: Dakar, Senegal, with possible travel to other regions
- Work authorization in Senegal required
- This is a permanent position.

Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in administration, preferably supporting field teams.
- Good English.
- Fluent in Wolof and French
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Administration or related field.
- Secondary degree education in Project Management, Communications, International Relations, Business Management, or a comparable field will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency with Excel and are very comfortable with technology (Google Suite, Slack, Quip, MS Office)
