About The Role
The MRV Country Coordinator - Senegal will serve as the country lead for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) activities while acting as a quasi-Project Manager for all MRV-related projects across Senegal. The role is responsible for coordinating field data collection, ensuring data quality, managing project execution, and providing leadership to field teams to deliver high-quality studies on time and within budget.
Working closely with the Regional MRV Manager, the successful candidate will oversee multiple concurrent projects, support the recruitment and training of field enumerators, drive operational excellence, and ensure that all MRV activities align with business objectives. This role requires a strong blend of project coordination, field team leadership, data management, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, data-intensive environment.
Responsibilities:
Coordination of Data Acquisition:
- Support the Regional MRV Manager with proximal supervision of all field data collection teams across Senegal.
- Guide the MRV Teams in execution of various studies, including but not limited to, feasibility studies, baseline and project carbon usage studies, and KPT (kitchen performance tests) studies.
- Utilize contemporary data collection tools and ensure data quality through verification and error correction.
- Implement SOPs and checklists for efficient data collection and analysis
Project Coordination:
- Coordinate several high-frequency, high-quality MRV projects simultaneously
- Maintain a strategic project calendar and optimize resource allocation
- Utilize their experience in setting up and operationalizing efficient Coordination in Senegal, while expanding MRV scope in the country.
- Coach upcoming Teams on budgetary discipline and maximizing utility of all resources availed to projects.
- Ensure local Teams’ output aligned with the business strategy
Collaboration & Communication:
- Escalate to the Regional MRV Manager, all issues affecting delivery of MRV department’s mandate, while leading efforts to gain localized solutions and best practices.
- Support the Regional MRV Manager with assessment of expected project outcomes and customizing training materials to align with those desired outcomes.
- Review and provide best practice approaches to recruiting, mobilization and training of field enumerators.
- Act as a close collaboration officer for MRV in relation to broader Burn Teams and Departments.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Data Quality: Achieve and maintain consistently high data quality standards across all MRV and Feasibility studies, exceeding established metrics for accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
- Project Delivery: Deliver projects on time and within budget, meeting established deadlines and milestones with exceptional efficiency and minimal rework.
- Cost Management: Operate a cost-effective MRV department, adhering to budgetary constraints while maximizing resource utilization and achieving optimal value for each project.
Skills and Experience:
- The role holder must be proficient in English, alongside French and any other major languages spoken in Senegal.
- Individual will need excellent technical ability to carry out audit-like work in a data-heavy environment
- Relevant technical data handling skills in areas of collection using tools like Kobo and basic analysis using Ms. Excel.
- Team leadership and management of field teams in multiple locations
- Required soft skills include people and teamwork skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving
- The role-holder is expected to have strong field monitoring and evaluation skills including effective communication skills to constantly liaise with the team members to ensure all enumerators or team leaders are achieving both their qualitative and quantitative targets.
- This specialist should also have effective communication skills to interact with team members or customers, as well as provide training as needed.
- Possess 3 to 5 years of experience in field team leadership and management in areas like data collection or sales.
